These are the only colours we breed.
But why is it that so many people are fascinated with fashionable colours? People enquire asking us for dilute dachshunds coloured Blue, Isabella, Silver, & Lilac. We are also asked for Piebald.
Whilst we try not to ever comment on other Breeders and their practices, when it comes to this topic we cannot hold our tongues.
We will spell it out for you – IT IS WRONG. DO NOT BUY A DACHSHUND THAT IS NOT A BREED STANDARD COLOUR
CDA* is a genetic condition found in certain breeds, Dachshunds being one of them, that causes hair thinning and loss. It can leave the skin prone to sunburn, infection and dermatitis. This condition is associated with dogs who have a “dilute” colour .
The Kennel Club is holding a free seminar this week to educate Breeders on the dangers of breeding for fashionable colours. We urge anyone breeding Dachshunds to attend and understand why it is not ok.
