I don’t really know where to start!

I’ve grown up with dogs and owned my own for years. I’ve always researched breeders thoroughly, met them face to face, chosen or been shown an available puppy, and taken them home at eight weeks. I’ve always followed the advice to meet the breeder, meet the mother, and make sure everything feels right. I also believed that getting a puppy at eight weeks was crucial so I could shape and mould them to fit my family and lifestyle. I usually shied away from older dogs because I didn’t want to take on “someone else’s problem.”
We have a flat-coated retriever, and I’ve always wanted a dachshund. When the time finally felt right, I searched high and low across the UK for a breeder, but none of them felt right. The conformation of the dam or sire didn’t, in my view, represent a well-bred dachshund. Then I stumbled across Coots and was immediately wowed by the beauty and quality of the dogs they owned and raised.
I was skeptical at first because this style of purchasing a puppy was the opposite of everything I had ever been advised to do. I worried about so many things—especially bringing home a puppy older than eight weeks and whether they would have “bad habits” or simply not be the way I would have raised a younger puppy. The list went on.
But I took the plunge and called Kate. I immediately felt at ease—reassured and well informed. I explained what I was looking for, and she talked me through the available puppies. I chose a six-month-old puppy who would be transported from the Bulgarian kennel to the UK the following month.
From the moment I said yes, my fears disappeared. Marina in Bulgaria sent videos and updates while we waited, and Kate was always available to answer any questions. The owners’ area on the website is also full of incredibly helpful information and resources. The aftercare is second to none too. With ongoing care and support after the arrival of your puppy!
I was also worried about the long journey from Bulgaria to the UK—but I didn’t need to be. Kate provides tracking updates, and the puppies’ welfare during transport is clearly a top priority.
Our puppy arrived secure, calm, and happy. She is in excellent health and immediately slotted into our family. The development and training programme they put their puppies through is clearly of a high standard, which shows in her confident, well-balanced nature. She has been thoroughly socialised and is very familiar with normal family life—including three children, one dog, and two cats!
I would recommend Coots to everyone. They are true professionals. They know what they’re doing, have a clear passion for the breed, and raise puppies to the highest standards of conformation and temperament.
We are so happy we chose Piper, and if I ever want another dachshund, I will DEFINITELY be contacting Kate again.

We are so happy and love Piper so much!
Thank you, Marina and Kate.
